Description: What an INTENSE plant! Sandy Holmes is a REALLY great gal, and her UF's are of the absolute best of quality of ANY I've ever seen or grown. THIS plant is one that she's been the most excited about for years... named it for her Father, who she loved dearly. When I asked her which of her plants would represent her work best for a feature garden I wanted to have here for her (for the Nat'l Convention Tour in 2014), THIS is the plant she wanted it centered around. I've literally spent days in Sandy's seedling beds, and respect her work beyond words... and when SHE says "this is her favorite", it MEANS something!

My only regret is that my own photo of this plant is awful! The main shot is by Sandy herself, which shows the flower much better than mine. To be honest, this plant has the peculiar trait of the buds opening from the bottom to the tip, and it starts doing it in the late afternoon before the day it actually opens. Because the flowers are SO huge, they look like wind turbines (the tall oval types)... VERY COOL! Of course, when the bloom actually opens the next morning... the show is just flat AMAZING! 2 days of entertainment is pretty neat though!

Anyway... not sure what else I can tell you about this plant, other than the fact that Sandy's stat's are very modest... many blooms are over a foot in diameter, and bud counts here hit the 24-28 range. In any case, it's a truly tremendous plant... one surely suited for ANY true garden!

Winner of an AHS JC award as a seedling, AHS HM in 2016, and the Ned Roberts Spider/UF award in 2016. IMPRESSIVE, and obviously I'm not the only one who thinks so!
