Sneaky? Perhaps so. This flower certainly draws one in... but watch out for those teeth! Admiring a 3rd full set of scapes, however, should let you know what it's real purpose is all about!

"Baracuda Bay" (this flower's grandmother) produced lots of toothed seedlings for us, but nearly every one had a rather ugly band that I had just about decided was impossible to get rid of. Then came this one! By out-crossing the line with WAY OF LIFE, ULTERIOR MOTIVE seems to have inherited a slight watermark from its grandfather, Tet LBB . Not only was the unsightly deep color band gone with UM, but a watermark persevered! I'm so glad to have managed to get such a good plant from the line, as it took nearly 300 seedlings to get one that reliably "had it all". A deep saturated red in full sun, yet alluring purple in lower light... this flower has been 40% polytepal on 2nd and 3rd set of scapes for us, and large white shark's teeth from the first bloom to the last. It did well in z5 before the move, so no qualms about sending it north. Vigorous plant!

Great parent for teeth! Momma to the new "Polkville Cookie Monster" (2015)!
